Mission Statement
The mission of CASCARONES POR LA VIDA is to collectively create and sell confetti stuffed, hand painted eggs and donate the proceeds to organizations that assist and nurture children with AIDS. Through the experience and the process of community based workshops, we spread the spirit of love, friendship,and charitable acts.
La mision de CASCARONES POR LA VIDA es de crear,a manera colectiva,huevos pintados rellenos con confetti y venderlos. La ganancia total se dona a organizaciones que atienden ninos con SIDA. Durante estos talleres a mirel communal se infunda us espiritu de amor,amistad y acto de caridad.
The 2003 spring fund raiser will assist teenage students affected by HIV/AIDS with tuition, materials and transportation to art classes in the Philadelphia area.
Cascarone
(CAS-KA-RO-NAY): A BRIGHTLY COLORED EGGSHELL USUALLY FILLED WITH CONFETTI AND OFTEN BROKEN OVER A FRIEND’S HEAD.
“Cascarones Por La Vida/For Life” Local artist & children throughout the Philadelphia area create and sell cascarones every spring to donate the proceeds to the Cascarones Por la Vida Art Fund at the Philadelphia Foundation established to assist youth affected by HIV/AIDS. Thanks to: Manayunk Brewing Company, The Blue Marble bookstore, The Reading Terminal Market, Chestnut Hill Grill. Students from: St Joseph University, Springside School, Oak Lane Day School, inliquid.com and The Philadelphia Museum of Art Education Department Outreach Program for all their support in this year’s fund raiser!
